Hessler Street Fair 2018

Call for Artists !

Submit your design and have your artwork on all of our 2018 T-shirts, posters, postcards and banners.

Things to keep in mind when designing/creating Hessler artwork.

The background color will be the shirt color, so please look at our
Shirt Archive

We will probably NOT want a color that matches one from the last 4-5 years - just to mix things up a bit. Not a deal breaker though. Check out this T-Shirt site for background color ideas.

This is the 2017 artwork -

The 2018 theme is All in the Circle

The World is a Circle Without a Beginning; Nobody Knows Where the Circle Ends

Things that should be in the design:

- Hessler Street Fair and June 2 & 3, 2018

- 11am - Dusk will be on the poster and postcard, but is optional for shirt and banner.

- All in the Circle (optional) but should at least be implied.

- If you look closely you will see that every design for the last 10+ years has had both at least one mushroom and one lemon - more are optional.

Here are some pertinent circles to consider and to inspire:

University Circle,

Earth,

Peace sign,

Lemon slice (cross section)

Bicycle wheels

Drums & drum circles,

Musical notes

Round food (lol),

The recycle symbol

People (the public), the bands, vendors return year after year...

Use your imagination!

Important Notes:

Artist must have a working cell phone and be willing to email, text or talk on the phone about the design. Please do NOT submit artwork if this is not the case.

Must be available between the time their artwork is chosen and a few weeks before the fair for support.

The Design is YOUR artwork and we respect that, but it also has to fit our image. And because we are selling T-Shirts and possibly other items with the artwork you must be willing to turn over ownership of the work to HNA (Hessler Neighborhood Association).

Must be willing to edit, rework or have your work edited by our artists to fit the theme and satisfy the Hessler Committee.

Concept, sketches and ideas for graphics and artwork may be hand drawn, BUT it will need to be converted to a digital file and color separated to print Postcards, Banners, Posters and T-Shirts. So, it would be ideal if the artist was able to work in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator to help with that conversion.

Because one of our primary goals is to print T-Shirts we typically limit the color palette to 5-6 colors. More than that is expensive and the shirt does not breathe if it's solid ink - but that also depends on the artwork.
